A Happier Gut: Everyday Habits That Support A Healthy Gut

The beginning of balancing your hormones starts in your gut.  Gut Health plays a huge role in health of your organs, function of your organs, fat loss or storage, brain fog, anxiety and depression.

A HEALTHY GUT IS A HEALTHY PERSON!

One of the best ways to improve your gut health…eliminate sugar! It feeds the bad gut bacteria. Your gut microbiome is constantly at work to maintain good digestive health—

-Good bacteria in our gut lowers inflammation, make us happy, lean, and give us longevity.

-Bad bacteria in our gut increases inflammation which can lead to sickness, weight gain, brain fog, acne, and so much more.

Here are a few tips for a healthy gut:

  • Lower or avoid alcohol. Alcohol can be one of the biggest killers of good bacteria and helps bad bacteria survive and thrive. It can also cause leaky gut. Leaky gut is a budding health concern linked to frequent and excessive alcohol consumption. During alcohol metabolism, “your liver is going to be releasing more pro-inflammatory cytokines driving inflammation that injures the lining of the digestive tract to create a ‘leakiness’.” It also is dehydrating which impacts digestion and gut health.

  • Increase your fiber-  Your biome can change by the season, by the week, or even by the meal. And if you eat a large array of fresh fruits, grains, and vegetables, your gut health will reflect that. Eating low fiber foods or eating only a few types of fiber — such as the same fiber supplement every day — can harm your intestinal biome and the health of your protective mucus wall.

  • A diverse gut is the best, a wide variety of foods. It is suggested to not eat the same foods every day.

  • Lots of vegetables and fruits, variety is best.  Eat what is in season.

  • Add in plenty of whole grains, beans, lentils and peas.

  • Yogurt, fermented foods like Kombucha, sauerkraut, kefir are fantastic.

  • Stay well hydrated and move regularly.

  • Try to incorporate lean protein and make it present at each meal.  Shoot for 20-30g per meal depending how many meals you eat per day.
